I had a lot of fun with my last piece, a triptych showing the passage of a form as it moved through space. It was an experiment, and it reminded me of Edward Gorey’s illustrations, snapshots of improbable events. Travel inspires me to keep an open mind when I’m out of my comfort zone, experiencing places, cultures, people and events that I don’t understand. This painting is the beginning of a series that I’ll call Pa(e)saggi, which will show the passage of a form through space and time. A recent painting shows the first appearance of this form, but I think it’s most fitting to kick off this series with a singularity: “a point in space-time where the laws of physics as we know them break down.
